INSUS Insulation Expands with FM Approval Certification
As of January 2025, Insus Insulation’s roof insulation boards will feature the FM Approval certification. This quality mark, issued by the FM Global testing institute, sets the highest achievable standards for safety and fire resistance. For international projects, and increasingly within the Netherlands, FM Approval is an important quality standard.
Peter Hoekman, director of Insus Insulation, emphasizes the importance of this certification: “This FM Approval mark proves that our products meet the toughest fire safety requirements. For our customers, this means that Insus insulation is not only sustainable but also extremely reliable.”
Insus had a wide range of insulation boards tested, from 30 to 160 mm in thickness. The entire range is approved and is therefore available with the FM Approval certificate.
Additionally, Insus now has slope plates with FM Approval, a unique achievement in the market. The combination of this certification with the lowest MKI score makes Insus an indispensable partner for BREEAM projects. “We see this certification as a strong indication of our unique position in the market,” says Peter Hoekman. “We want to continue to make insulation greener, more sustainable, and smarter.” The company is continuously working to improve in this area, and this certification is a clear demonstration of that. “This is good for our customers, the market, and this planet.”
Green Convenience
Insus continues to work with full conviction toward sustainable solutions that are not only good for the environment but also for the user. Hoekman: “We strive to make the construction sector smarter, cleaner, and more efficient. That’s why we continue to optimize our processes and products.”
With a unique recycling facility in Duiven, Insus ensures that production waste, installation waste, and end-of-life materials are given a second life. This also speaks to the vision of reducing the environmental footprint and making insulation as easy as possible. Peter Hoekman highlights the importance of this vision: “When we say ‘Insus, green convenience,’ we really mean it. We don’t just claim it, we live it.”
Green on paper
At Insus, sustainability is made measurable. With the lowest MKI score in the market, they prove that their products have a minimal impact on the environment. This score, based on the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), shows that Insus scores 63% (!) lower than the market standard.
“This difference is crucial for projects where sustainability is a top priority, such as BREEAM projects,” explains Hoekman. “With this certification and all the other relevant certifications we hold, we not only prove our environmental performance, but we also offer our customers concrete benefits.”
