That depends on your type of floor. For wooden floors, a crawl space is practical, but for concrete floors, insulation can also be installed directly underneath or on top of the floor.

Insulating with impact: less waste, more convenience
Few things bother us more than waste—waste of raw materials, time, knowledge, and materials. That’s what drives us to work every day on even more green convenience for you.
PIR Insulation with Recycled Raw Materials
Insus PIR insulation boards are partly made from recycled raw materials. We source them from discarded sandwich panels and sandwich doors. We then process the reusable materials into new insulation. As a result, our roof, facade, and wall insulation have the lowest Environmental Cost Indicator (MKI) value.
Green insulation, made in the Netherlands
There’s little sustainable about insulation boards that travel the world. That’s why we make them right here in the Netherlands. This not only saves a lot of transport kilometers but also ensures you can continue insulating even if, for example, a ship is stuck in the Suez Canal.
Trusted insulation value and fire safety
Of course, our insulation boards have the same high insulation value as standard PIR insulation boards. They comply with all laws and regulations, so you can insulate with peace of mind. Our FM certificate guarantees that fire safety is in order, which can also reduce your insurance premiums. Green and good!
Endlessly recyclable PIR insulation boards
Your PIR insulation will keep heat in for at least 75 years. That may seem far off, but at Insus, we’ve already thought about the period after that. The boards can then be fully recycled into new insulation. With our take-back guarantee, you can be sure that valuable raw materials won’t be lost in the future.
On the road to 100% recycled insulation
We dream of making an insulation board from entirely recycled material. That’s not possible yet, but the path has been set. We continue to find ways to extract what’s inside—or what’s not needed. Simply by thinking logically. Step by step. Board by board.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a crawl space to install floor insulation?
Can I install floor insulation myself?
Yes, PIR boards are lightweight and easy to work with. Depending on the substrate and the application, they can be mechanically fixed or glued.
Can I install PIR boards myself?
Yes, PIR panels are lightweight and easy to work with. Depending on the application, they can be mechanically fixed or glued.
What is the difference between PIR and PUR?
PIR offers a higher insulation value at the same thickness, is more fire-resistant, and has better pressure resistance than PUR.
Is a subsidy available for roof insulation?
Yes, with an Rd-value of at least 3.5 you are eligible for the ISDE subsidy.
Can I install roof insulation myself?
Yes, PIR boards are lightweight and easy to handle. However, for subsidy eligibility a certified insulation company is often required.
