Effortlessly recycle more

As a waste processor or recycling company, you are constantly looking for ways to extract more value from waste. Insus is here to help. We offer a better solution for processing (sandwich) panels containing PIR and PUR. No need to landfill or incinerate them anymore—we process them into reusable raw materials.

How can we work together?

What do we accept?

We can already recycle many materials containing PIR and PUR. To do this as efficiently and sustainably as possible, we apply an acceptance policy. Below is an overview of what we accept.

We accept all types and brands of sandwich panels, as long as they still have their steel facing. Panels with polyester or mineral wool are not accepted.

All types and brands of sandwich doors can be returned, provided they still have their steel or aluminium facing. Panels with polyester or mineral wool are not accepted.

Insus insulation boards and installation or cutting waste can always be returned. For other brands, we are happy to assess possibilities on a project basis. Contact us to discuss options.

Panels from cold rooms or refrigerated trailers also contain PU rigid foam. All types and brands can be returned for recycling.

Do you use polyurethane in industrial production processes? We would be happy to explore whether your residual streams can be recycled. Contact us to discuss collection agreements and logistics support.

Insulated boilers also contain PU rigid foam. We recycle boilers of all brands in cooperation with Refurn. Boilers can only be delivered via Refurn.

Why choose Insus?

Insus is driven by raw materials. That is why we have invested significant time and effort into achieving something unique: converting PIR and PUR panels into fully separated, clean raw material streams. We are the only company in the Netherlands to accomplish this. With high capacity (20,000 tonnes per year), a sustainable all-electric recycling process, and a flexible approach, we are the scalable partner for recycling companies.

Safe, traceable and responsible

Insus processes PIR and PUR panels in accordance with strict national and European legislation, such as environmental regulations and the F-gas Regulation. We register all materials in detail and provide reports that allow you to demonstrate that these waste streams have been recycled sustainably. Contact us to discuss collaboration.

A circular solution

Recycle Proces Afbeelding (3)

#1 Capturing blowing agents

Insulation materials contain blowing agents such as pentane and (H)CFCs. We capture pentane and reuse it in the production of new insulation materials. (H)CFCs from older panels can no longer be reused, so we safely capture and neutralise them to prevent emissions into the atmosphere.

#2 Recycling PIR and PUR

Using innovative chemical recycling techniques, we convert PU rigid foam into polyol, a raw material for new insulation products.

#3 Purifying metals

We separate the steel or aluminium facing from (sandwich) panels. After thorough cleaning, these metals are suitable for reuse in industrial applications. Insus supplies them back to recycling companies and metal processors.

#4 Separating residual streams

Using advanced sorting technologies, we automatically remove residual materials (such as wood, rubber or plexiglass) from the waste streams. These are separated and processed for high-quality reuse.

Legislation and regulations

The collection and recycling of PU rigid foam require compliance with strict legislation due to hazardous substances and flammability. Insus fully complies with national and European environmental regulations.

Together against waste

You don’t throw away what still has value. And you don’t use more than necessary. This belief is deeply rooted in our DNA. We are driven by raw materials and committed to eliminating waste. We won’t stop until all polyurethane and polyisocyanurate in the Netherlands is reused indefinitely. But we cannot do this alone. Fortunately, more and more builders, demolition companies, waste processors and other businesses are joining our mission.
