Winner of the Beter Verbouwen Trophy 2025 with InSuRoof Reno
Since May 2025, Insus has proudly held the title of winner of the very first Beter Verbouwen Bokaal. The award was presented on 13 May during the Renovatie & Transformatie trade fair at the Brabanthallen in ’s-Hertogenbosch. The Beter Verbouwen Bokaal recognises the most sustainable innovation for improving existing buildings.
InSuRoof Reno: low environmental impact, green convenience
Insus’ winning entry, InSuRoof Reno, was specifically developed for the renovation market. The insulation board combines high thermal performance with a low environmental impact. Its environmental impact has been calculated using an LCA and independently verified for inclusion in the Dutch National Environmental Database. According to the latest data in the Dutch National Environmental Database, InSuRoof Reno ranks among the PIR insulation boards with the lowest MKI scores.
In addition, InSuRoof Reno is designed for high-quality recycling at the end of its service life. At our recycling facility in Duiven, we process PIR and PUR residual streams and separate the different materials, allowing valuable raw materials to be reused wherever possible.
Bart-Jan van Sommeren, Regional Manager for the Southern Netherlands, commented on the win: “This award is a great recognition of our efforts to make insulation smarter. With InSuRoof Reno, we combine excellent technical performance with a low environmental impact and the possibility of processing materials again after use.”
Jury criteria and recognition
The expert jury, consisting of specialists from Techniek Nederland, TNO and Heijmans, assessed the entries based on their contribution to making existing buildings more sustainable, the scalability of the application and their demonstrable impact. The jury praised InSuRoof Reno for its innovative approach and measurable environmental benefits.
A step towards a circular construction industry
This award is a great recognition of our approach with InSuRoof Reno. At the same time, our work is far from finished. We continue to develop ways to keep raw materials in the supply chain for longer and further reduce the environmental impact of our insulation boards. Step by step, we are moving towards a circular construction industry.
